We are thrilled to reflect on the incredible success of Mosaic: Interfaith Youth Action’s Newton Farm Service Learning Day! This event turned out to be a transformative experience for all participants, offering a powerful blend of hands-on service work and interfaith dialogue.
Event Highlights:
On September 15, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 PM, youth from diverse backgrounds gathered at Newton Community Farm for an afternoon of meaningful connection and impactful service.
What We Did:
Participants eagerly dove into various farm activities, including planting, harvesting, and maintaining the farm’s beautiful landscape. These tasks not only boosted the farm’s productivity but also allowed participants to connect with the land and one another in a meaningful way.
Interfaith Dialogue:
One of the most enriching parts of the day was our structured interfaith dialogue sessions. Participants shared their personal experiences and spiritual connections to farming and environmental stewardship. These conversations fostered mutual understanding and respect, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved.
Service and Learning:
The day wasn’t just about getting our hands dirty—it was about learning and growing together. Through guided discussions and reflective activities, participants explored broader themes like sustainability, community building, and social justice.
Who Joined Us:
We welcomed youth ages 12-18, both seasoned volunteers and first-time participants. The event provided an inclusive space where everyone felt welcome and valued.
The Outcome:
The Newton Farm Service Learning Day was a resounding success! Together, we cultivated not just crops but also a stronger sense of community and understanding. The dedication and enthusiasm of our participants made this day truly memorable.
